Leader in Me – Community Learning

Leader in Me – Community Learning

This year the MVSD Admin Council is continuing our work with the Covey Institute as part of our professional growth plan. This has been an ongoing journey with my involvement including:

This post will serve as a summary of resources to document my learning journey through this session.

We started off the day with a reflection on our current understanding of the PD topic and where we are at in terms of our implementation. This was introduced through this video.

Leader in Me
  • GET: What results were you getting?
  • DO: What were the top three things you were doing to get those results?
  • SEE: What paradigm was guiding you to be so committed and engaged in those actions?

For this reflection, I focused on our most recent esports event:

GET: we had seven teams engaged from three schools located in Dauphin

DO: staff empowerment (PD and support), systemic support (handling the logistics of the event so students had the option to participate), and community involvement

SEE: paradigm of potential

How does your school mission drive everything you do?By the time your students move on from your school, what is the ultimate impact you hope to have on their lives?
How does maintaining achievement, perception, and process data support your ability to achieve that ultimate impact?Of the 3 types of data: achievement, perception, and process, which stands out as the one in most need of attention?

One component of relationships and trust involves an “emotional bank account” or EBA. An emotional bank account is subjective and different with different people. What may be a deposit for one individual is considered a withdrawal for another person. Ideally, to strengthen trust, you do not want to be making withdrawals.

We watched this video and utilized the following resource page.

Leadership involves empowering others as we engage the behaviors necessary to achieve our ultimate impact for students.
