BYTE 2024

BYTE 2024

On Friday I spent the day in Portage la Prairie for the 20th annual BYTE conference. This was my 8th year joining their team as a presenter and I am thrilled to still be a part of this fantastic event!

If you weren’t able to join the event in person, and even if you did, I recommend scrolling back on Instagram and X/Twitter as many participants and presenters shared their learning throughout the day.

You can find applicable posts by following the #BYTEMB hashtag or you can follow the BYTE Conference directly on X/Twitter and Instagram.

The learning will also continue TOMORROW, February 21st with virtual sessions for students and caregivers by keynote, Jennifer Casa Todd.

I had the opportunity to learn and share with three groups of participants. The slides and associated resources are included below:

What is Generative AI and What Do Educators Need to Know

In recent years, the field of education has been transformed by the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies. The language model software developed by OpenAI, has revolutionized the way we interact with machines, and is poised to make a significant impact on the education landscape.

In this session, we will dive into how Artificial Intelligence actually works and explore the potential of AI in education. We will also discuss the potential challenges and ethical considerations associated with using AI in education, and how to address them.

Practical Uses for AI

In a rapidly evolving educational landscape, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to transform the way educators teach and students learn. This session will provide educators with practical insights and strategies for harnessing the power of AI to enhance the educational experience. Whether you’re a classroom teacher, administrator, or curriculum developer, this session will equip you with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the AI-driven future of education.

Where Do I Go For

There are so many aspects of educational technology: digital citizenship, esports, AI, coding, social media, and accessibility.  Where do you start?  This rapid-fire presentation will share a variety of resources to get you started in the aspect(s) of your choosing.  Resources shared will provide a platform for educators to get started independently on the topics that are most applicable to their professional needs.

Thank you so much to my network for sharing so much from the day! Check out some highlights embedded below from a X/Twitter:
