The Role of Chat GPT in Education – An AI Generated Unaffiliated TED-Style Talk

As I prepped for our discussion on AI with the Manitoba School Libraries Association yesterday I started to curate further resources to support learning in this area. As I put together articles, ebooks, podcasts, and more I was curious to see if there was any current TED talks on the subject. After not finding anything published on YouTube within the past 3 months I began scrolling the TED website to see if there were any TED or TEDx talks close, thinking I could jump in and potentially do one. While there are many options, none were close.

I then began to think in I could use AI to generate a TED-style talk and the rest is history! The final product is as follows:

From start to finish the process took about an hour and included the following:

  • Chat GPT
    • Creation of a script based on the prompt, “draft a TED talk style script on the role of Chat GPT in education”
    • Creation of a title for promotional use based off that script
  • Samsung Galaxy
    • AI-supported autofocus during filming to follow a video “subject” as I read the previously generated script
  • Canva
    • Video background removal
    • Creation of a video background using the “Text to Image” feature and the prompt, “TED talk stage”
    • Creation of a title slide using the “Text to Image” feature and the title prompt previously made by Chat GPT, “The Role of Chat GPT in Education – An AI Generated Unaffiliated TED-Style Talk”
  • WeVideo
    • Input the title slide and video files from Canva
    • Utilized their stock audio files to replicate the TED-style introductory music and applause

The final video is NOT perfect but I purposefully chose to not edit the video beyond what is described above as a way to consciously highlight both the capabilities and limitations of these programs.
