Week 1 – Day 2 includes a webinar entitled “Chart A New Course: Teaching Essential Skills for Tomorrow’s World”. It is facilitated by Rachelle Dene Poth and David Lockett and is described as follows:
“How do we create the right spaces for our students to learn? Whether in our classrooms or learning at a distance, there are many ways to expand where and how our students learn. Explore versatile ideas and digital tools for helping students to navigate in the digital world while building the vital social-emotional learning (SEL) and communication skills they need. “

Questions
- Rachelle Dene Poth is a language instructor, I’m curious as to what strategies she would advocate for use with our learners who do not have tech access when located at home.
- What would the learning stations look like in a socially-distanced face-to-face environment?
General PD Thoughts
- I can appreciate the need for positivity and can see how it can be a model of how teacher’s may present themselves (especially at the elementary levels) but the overly dramatic introductory messages sometimes appear insincere to me. I feel like I’m not being respected as an adult learner… is this just me? (I’m positive this is not their intention, just my interpretation).
- This webinar, and yesterdays, started with a review of the features of the program as well as some general housekeeping notices. These clear instructions of the platform and expectations is a great model to do the same with our students.
