New Adventures – Coordinator of ICT

New Adventures – Coordinator of ICT

Ah…. September.  I don’t care what you say, when you’re a teacher September is always your New Years.  New schedules, new routines, new goals, new people, new jobs…. yes, a new job!  This spring, one-year into an 18-month maternity leave, I decided to pursue the position of Coordinator of ICT in a neighbouring school division and I was the successful candidate!

When I wrapped up my M.Ed I knew that this would be the position I would eventually pursue but I had no idea what the timeline would actually look like.  The division in which I started my teaching career did not have the population to support this type of role but I was truly enjoying supporting them in their tech-goals on top of my regular teacher role.  My husband and I, however, live right on the border of two school divisions.  So when the role of Coordinator of ICT became available in MVSD it was immediately on my radar.

Despite pursing my M.Ed in the area of tech implementation I had a lot of hesitation when it came to leaving “my kids” and the classroom.  Being in a rural area, however, I knew that these positions are not readily available.  So I decided to jump in with both feet, was offered the position, and officially started in my role the first week of September!

I couldn’t be more thrilled with this new adventure and, despite my initial hesitation about leaving the classroom, am happy to report that I am LOVING every moment thus far.  I am so thankful for an opportunity to share and learn alongside our amazing group of educators and have been incredibly supported by everyone in both my ICT team but also our Division Office team.

I hope to be sharing more through this blog again as I settle into this new role.  I’m happy to have you along for the journey!

I'd love to hear your thoughts; please leave a comment!
