On Wednesdays I highlight some of our amazing MVSD staff on our social media pages. Everyday our staff are using tech in new and exciting ways, are learning new skills, and are sharing ways in which ed tech is assisting them in their practice. Our division is in the midst of a NEW collaborative video project and the clips have started rolling in! These projects serve multiple purposes and are for EVERYONE in all MVSD roles, but for those working directly with students, it allows students an opportunity to take a multi-disciplinary approach to: Literacy with ICT video design framing/shooting/lighting digital collaboration using cloud-based… Read More
Follow Friday – #MTSPDDay
On Fridays I share what I believe to be a notable person/organization/school on our social media pages to assist our staff in the development of their online Personal Learning Network. This week, as I do every year at this time, I’d like to bring recognition to the #MTSPDDay hashtag! As educators take part in various professional development sessions across the province, many of them are choosing to share their learning via social media and tagging their posts using the hashtag #MTSPDDay. By following along with this hashtag on your platform of choice you are able to document your own learning, grow your PLN, and take in… Read More
PD on the Potty
Near the end of 2019 I implemented the idea of PD on the Potty following a podcast from Kasey Bell. This alternative method of professional development sees the inclusion of fliers placed in staff washroom facilities. Depending on the month these may include: divisional tech reminders upcoming PD opportunities tips & tricks program reviews social media recommendations and more! Not only do these fliers allow you to have a captive audience but they can provide a bridge for staff members who have technology as a barrier in their practice [for these individuals, emails, social media posts, digital resources, etc are inaccessible]. Here… Read More

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
This year the MVSD Admin Council is using the work of Covey as part of our professional growth plan; starting with a focus on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. This post will serve as a summary of resources to document my learning journey through this first session. A visual overview is available in below via YouTube: Normally my learning habits include blogging through PD sessions and university courses as the act of typing and embedding links assists me in my understanding of the material being presented. However, today’s session explicitly asked to not engage with devices in any… Read More
#TechTipTuesday – Microsoft Educator Center
Every Tuesday I share a Tech Tip on our social media pages to assist our staff in their use of technology as it relates to their role. This is a FREE online community platform in which educators can participate in Microsoft-based professional development, connect with other educators, access virtual field trips, find shared resources and more! With so many topics to choose from, this is one of my go-to resources to share with educators who are looking for support in the Microsoft realm. For those new to Microsoft I also recommend starting with the following “learning paths” that offer asynchronous, self-paced guided professional development… Read More

On Wednesdays I highlight some of our amazing MVSD staff on our social media pages.
