#MantraMonday

Every Monday I share a different ed tech quote on our Thompson Classroom social media pages for our staff to consider.  This week’s Mantra is: Are you curious as to what tech MVSD has available to support your students or yourself?  Reach out and we’ll work together to help meet the unique needs of your classroom.

#TechTipTuesday

Every Tuesday I share a Tech Tip on our social media pages to assist our staff in their use of technology as it relates to their role.      This week I would like to highlight one of our Office 365 tools, Planner.  At its most basic level this is a “to-do list” but it can be so much more! The collaborative features and sharing options lends itself to so many possibilities.  Check out a quick overview from IGTV below:      View this post on Instagram Today’s #TechTipTuesday features Microsoft Planner and its use as a classroom tool. #mvsd_mb… Read More

Mantra Monday

Every Monday I share a different ed tech quote on our Thompson Classroom social media pages for our staff to consider.  This week’s Mantra is: How do you view ed tech in your building?  Term 2 is right around the corner; conact me if you have projects you want to try. 2020 Presentation Schedule!

I am so excited to share that the final touches have been put onto my 2020 presentation schedule!  When I left the classroom for my second maternity leave in 2018 I set a goal for myself to get more involved in public speaking as a way to stay connected to the professional-side of my life.  This goal allowed me to work creatively on various ed tech projects and provided an avenue to deepen my understanding. Challenges in Developing Student Digital Literacy Skills

As members of the future workforce and society, today’s students require guidance and education, in order to successfully navigate and utilize the digital world that they were born into.  Educators are tasked with introducing students to new literacies that not only focus on skill development but also emphasize social practices in the context of short message service (SMS), multimedia messaging service (MMS), social networking activities, and mobile technologies (Wan, 2012, p. 1066).  School-age children have a unique set of experiences awarded to them due to the digital age in which they were born.  However, their birth date alone is not… Read More

Whats New With ManACE

Earlier this week I headed into the city to attend the annual planning meeting for ManACE (Manitoba Association for Computing Educators).  After serving on the board for the 2013/2014 school year I took a leave of absence to focus on my M.Ed journey.  Now that I’ve graduated and am home on maternity leave I thought that this would be a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with this wonderful organization. Here are some of the awesome things you want to know about! 1 ) #MTSPDDay / SAGE Sessions – ManACE is the only SAGE group to offer PD opportunities across the province rather than centralized in Winnipeg or… Read More
