Every Friday I share what I believe to be a notable person/organization/school on our social media pages to assist our staff in the development of their online Personal Learning Network. This highlight is one of my “go to” sources for ed tech tools. In fact, the first time I highlighted him on this blog was almost exactly EIGHT years ago! Larry Ferlazzo is an extensive ed tech curator and his “best of” series on his blog is fantastic. Larry Ferlazzo. (2020). Uploaded by Kirsten Thompson. Microsoft – Google Platform Comparisons
One of the amazing things to come of this time is an abundance of resource sharing online from educators all over the world! Most school divisions/districts around the world fall into two realms: those operating in a Microsoft environment and those operating in a Google environment (although some offer both). Using the environment offered by your division is important as: It is most familiar to your staff and students It is easily serviced and troubleshooted by your ICT Department It has your staff and students already in the system (no signing up for accounts, passwords, etc) It has systems in place to ensure any staff… Read More
MVSD ICT Resources Notebook
This Microsoft OneNote Notebook is designed to be a “one stop shop” for all of our MVSD staff to find ICT resources. It is also linked as a main tab of this blog. I encourage you to check back to it often as we continue to add new information as our situations evolve.

Covid-19 Class Suspensions
I know I’ve been absent on here following the announcement of the formal suspension of MB classes due to the global Covid-19 pandemic. For all up-to-date information as to how this affects MVSD families and staff I encourage you to follow our Covid-19 Updates page on our divisional website. For all reputable health updates I encourage you to visit the MB Covid-19 page. A lot of work has been happening behind the scenes & I hope to share and offer detailed support later today. I thank everyone for their patience and flexibility during this challenging time.

As I complete my prep work for each unit I will be sharing the resources I find up on the blog through my updated Manitoba Resources page which now features an active link to my Grade 11 Canadian… Read More
Building Your Digital Literacy Tickle Trunk – BYTE Conference 2016
Three years after my first presentation at BYTE (with the wonderful Tyler) I was back at it again today sharing about digital literacy and citizenship at the 12th Annual BYTE Conference (which has now moved to Brandon after calling Neepawa home for many years). It was so energizing to be back in a classroom setting after almost 8 months and connecting and sharing with so many enthusiastic and inspiring educators! It was a very busy day but I was happy to reconnect with many of my favourite Tweeps like Andy, John, Zoe, John, and probably many more that… Read More

Resources To Start Off Your Week 87
At the start of each week I post a list of Resources to Start Off Your Week with at least two new additions that I will add to my favourite websites page (when applicable, resources will also be added in to my Manitoba resources page). This week is a very busy one for MB teachers as a large majority are sending home report cards and holding parent-teacher conferences. As such, I am only going to share a few resources today:1 ) Social Network Checklists – These checklists include everything you need to know about setting up an account, managing privacy, blocking/deleting people/information, how to report… Read More
