#TechTipTuesday – Robotics Options
On Tuesdays, I share a Tech Tip on our social media pages to assist our staff in their use of technology as it relates to their role.
It is time for #RoboWeek ! Whether you want to use this week to introduce the field of robotics or you are looking to have robotics in your classroom all year long, there are lots of options available to you:
- MVSD Tech Kits
- These kits have been designed to allow students to explore a variety of digital literacy streams in a means that is accessible to staff.
- They are loaned to schools, at no charge, through our PD Resource Centre, and delivered to your school via divisional mail.
- Robotics options include:
- Botley the Coding Robot
- Code and Go Robot Mouse
- Makey Makey
- Raspberry Pi
- Snap Circuits
- Sphero Mini Robots
- MAETL Lending Library
- This library is a curated collection of tools purchased by MAETL, available for loan to membership organizations, as a means of increasing technology access in Manitoba schools.
- Use of this service is FREE to Manitoba school divisions and includes shipping arrangements, tutorials, curriculum integration ideas, and access to technicians for support.
- Robotics options include:
- Sphero Robots
- Parrot Drones
- ManACE SEED Grants
- ManACE provides funding to support new educational projects that infuse technology into the classroom.
- Funding can be used toward the purchase of hardware, software, and/or other costs, such as professional development that meet our goal of supporting innovative learning ideas using technology in education. Our aim with this funding is to plant seeds that maximize learning opportunities for students and teachers.
- The next application round will open in December 2024 for those interested in purchasing their own robotics kits.
- Virtual Simulations
- Online robotics can be a great accessible option that allows users to continue their learning, whether they are at school or at home!
- In the past, I have shared about the VEX VR Robotics playground.
- Common Sense Media also curates a list of “The Best Apps & Websites for STEM Classrooms“
What options would you add to this list?
