WOW Wednesday – Summer PD Participants

On Wednesdays I highlight some of our amazing MVSD staff on our social media pages. Everyday our staff are using tech in new and exciting ways, are learning new skills, and are sharing ways in which ed tech is assisting them in their practice.

Ahead of the start of our school year, tech PD was offered here at Division Office for any staff members who wanted to fine tune their skills before stepping back into their classrooms. Spread across three days, these sessions incuded a variety of topics including:

  • August 29th – Secretarial PD
    • all building secretaries from across the division
    • Updates to PowerSchool, Office 365, shared calendars, and more
  • August 30th-31st – New Staff Mentorship
    • Distribution of MVSD devices
    • Login and navigation of division platforms
  • August 30th – Getting the Most Out of OneDrive
    • Everything you need to know to navigate and utilize the features of our cloud-based file system, OneDrive
  • August 31st – Individualized Tech Support
    • Designed to provide individualized support for your specific tech goals
  • August 31st – Microsoft Teams
    • A review of the Teams platform, including new features added over the summer
    • An emphasis will be placed on the Assignments feature and the use of Teams to support blended learning

In total, we saw 65 staff members from across our 16 buildings take time at the end of their summer to strengthen their tech skills! Participants included teachers, secretaries, educational assistants, substitutes, trustees, and senior administrators. Not only do these sessions enable the individual staff members with their skills but they can now serve as a point-person within their building to assist their colleagues.

I am so thankful that we have staff modeling lifelong learning across the division and am thankful for the time they spent with our team!

I'd love to hear your thoughts; please leave a comment!
