The CanadianED Leadership Show

Earlier this month I had the pleasure of chatting with Dean Shareski from the CanadianED Leadership Show. Dean has been a part of my PLN since 2013 when this blog was in its infancy and, over a decade later, is still what I would consider a component of the “best part” of the internet. (Read the linked blog from 2013 for my info on that). While I haven’t seen him in person since the 2014 Awakening Possibilities Conference, we have remained connected online and he continues to help grow my PLN. A perfect example of this was my introduction to Whtiney… Read More

As we step back for an opportunity to recharge and connect with activities that bring us joy, I know that many of us are looking for easy and accessible PD opportunities. Podcasts can be the perfect way to build in both PD and entertainment as they can be played: Current stats for Canadian… Read More

Follow Friday – The AI Education Conversation

On Fridays, I share what I believe to be a notable person/organization/school on our social media pages to assist our staff in the development of their online Personal Learning Network. I am always searching for different PD-focused podcasts to help me grow in my practice. As someone who regularly holds PD for others, it can sometimes be challenging for me to build in time for my professional learning as the dedicated PD days in our teaching calendar do not apply to me in the same way they do for other staff. However, I travel for my job A LOT. Between the regular… Read More

WOW Wednesday – Podcasting in the Classroom

On Wednesdays I highlight some of our amazing MVSD staff on our social media pages. Everyday our staff are using tech in new and exciting ways, are learning new skills, and are sharing ways in which ed tech is assisting them in their practice. In MVSD we have three podcasting kits that are available for loan to any staff member or student. They include a Snowball USB Microphone, high quality headphones, and supplementary resources to support classroom use. One example of these kits in action comes from Megan out of Ethelbert School who used the podcasting kits with her Grade 11 and… Read More

House of Ed Tech – Episode 207

Earlier this month I had the pleasure of chatting with Chris Nesi from the House of Ed Tech podcast. If you’ve been a follower of this blog for a while you know that Chris’ podcast has been a part of my accessible PD plan for a number of years and his work appeared as part of our Follow Friday series twice: Education Podcast Network Christopher Nesi After being a listener of the podcast for so long it was kind of surreal to be able to see Chris “in-person” (via video call) and put a face to the name. We chatted… Read More

Covid-19 Podcast Discussions

While the past four months have drastically cut down on my meeting and conference plans (still mourning the loss of ConnectED and Riding the Wave face-to-face events) it did signicantly increase my ability to converse with some amazing educators from across Manitoba and Saskatchewan.  I consider myself pretty lucky to have some wonderfully creative educators in my social circle who are using podcasts to share, connect, and educate.       As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, and resulting suspension of classes, there has been a lot of conversations to be had when it comes to the impact… Read More
