On Fridays, I share what I believe to be a notable person/organization/school on our social media pages to assist our staff in the development of their online Personal Learning Network. MAETL is a provincial organization that I have been involved with since I started my role as Coordinator of ICT in 2019. Since that time, I participated in their monthly professional development and business meetings, served as vice-president, president for two terms, and am now advising in the role of past-president. Their website describes MAETL as: “MAETL (Manitoba Association of Educational Technology Leaders) (formerly CECM – Computer Education Coordinators of Manitoba) was created in… Read More
#TechTipTuesday – MAETL STEAM Library
Every Tuesday I share a Tech Tip on our social media pages to assist our staff in their use of technology as it relates to their role. One of the most challenging barriers when it comes to technology integration for educators is access to resources. In almost all scenarios, classroom teachers do not have a lot (or any) say over their budget and while buying things out-of-pocket is a reality for many educators, tech tools are often cost-prohibitive. However, the budget restraints affect individual schools and school divisions as well; especially for niche tech items that aren’t part of “daily” use. This… Read More
Convergence Conference 2023
What better way to kick off the school year then with high-quality, inspiring, professional development! Last spring, MAETL reached out to various ed tech committees across Canada who were doing similar work to our organization and, through this outreach, we connected with ATLE out of Alberta. Our friendship was solidified when they sent a fantastic group out to the Riding the Wave conference in Gimli in May and it was decided then and there that we could reciprocate a visit to their Convergence conference in October. Myself and Troy Sigvaldason (MAETL VP and IT-extraordinaire) are taking in the conference, as… Read More

MAETL President – Round 2!
Today was a super exciting day as I not only attended, but lead, my first in-person AGM as we have been virtual since 2020. Since I joined the team in 2019 I had, unfortunately, never seen an in-person MAETL AGM and WOW; what a day! The morning kicked off with our formal business agenda running from 10am-12pm. One of our primary roles of AGM includes the election of our executive board and I am honoured and humbled to have been elected into the role of president for a second term with my partner-in-crime Troy Sigvaldason continuing to support us in… Read More

MAETL President!
Last week the provincial organization, MAETL, held their annual AGM and vendor fair. Usually held in collaboration with the Riding the Wave conference in Gimli, this year’s event was virtual as it continued to be the most reliable option given the ever-changing public safety guidelines that were present during the planning stage of the event. While this is always a fun event, this year was even more exciting as I moved into the role of President for the 2022/23 school year! (If you’d like to learn more about our group you can check out a previous Follow Friday post HERE).… Read More
