As you might know, I am teaching two different science classes this upcoming year: Grade 7 & Grade 8. I had a really fun time planning out these two classes because my class sizes are SO small and I could easily build in A LOT of labs and various other hands-on activities. My primary focus when developing my lessons is to provide a relevant and meaningful learning experience for my students. (Obviously, this means that I will continue to modify things as the school year progress and I learn more about my students.) One resource that… Read More

Classroom Library (Almost) Open for Business!
An important job for any teacher is not only developing literacy skills but also attempting to build a love of reading within their students. One tool to help achieve this monstrous task is through your classroom library. While all school’s have (or should have) a central library, a classroom library provides easy access for your students and is often utilized on a daily basis. I absolutely LOVE reading (for pleasure and for work) and often complete 10-12 novels for pleasure each year. As such, I want to try to instill this love of reading within my… Read More

Back in May I shared some of my planning that I had done for my Interactions with Ecosystems unit for my Grade 7 Science class. While the planning has continued, I realized today that I haven’t shared anything more through the blog. The Grade 7 Science curriculum consists of four different units so I thought that I would simply go in order and share the next unit’s resources: The Earth’s Crust. The Dynamic Earth Smithsonian Interactive. (2013). Uploaded by the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. "Miss L" Becomes "Mrs T"
On June 29th I married my best friend and fellow teacher, “Mr. T”. We were married at his parent’s farm, which is only a mile down the road from our farm. It was +30 degrees Celsius and both the ceremony and reception were outside; it was so humid but at least it didn’t rain! The day was so perfect, we couldn’t have asked for a better day and are so thankful to everyone who helped make our day so special. Our photographer, PhotOGGraphy by Vicki, also took our engagement pictures last August. Our photos were taken at my fiance’s uncle’s farm… Read More
