Resources To Start Off Your Week 70

It is hard to believe that school is going to be starting again in LESS than two months. For my American followers, you are going to be back even sooner! Summer always seemed to be so long and now that I am planning for my own classroom there definitely doesn’t seem to be enough time! As I’m prepping, I’m still finding a lot of resources for the classroom and it lends itself well to sharing through my blog. As always, I will be adding these to my lists of resources under the Fav Websites page! 1 ) Commonsense… Read More

"Miss L" Becomes "Mrs T"

On June 29th I married my best friend and fellow teacher, “Mr. T”. We were married at his parent’s farm, which is only a mile down the road from our farm. It was +30 degrees Celsius and both the ceremony and reception were outside; it was so humid but at least it didn’t rain! The day was so perfect, we couldn’t have asked for a better day and are so thankful to everyone who helped make our day so special. Our photographer, PhotOGGraphy by Vicki, also took our engagement pictures last August.  Our photos were taken at my fiance’s uncle’s farm… Read More

Mad Science 2

As you may know, I will be teaching both Grade 7 & Grade 8 science in the upcoming school year. As I work my way through my planning for the year I am consistently working towards making my lessons relevant and meaningful for the students in my classroom. It is important to me that my students get excited about what they are learning and can be self-motivated when it comes to experiments and research projects. As such, I have been looking for new and interesting ways to introduce information to my students as well as resources to engage… Read More

Blog, Website, or Both?

Our school year begins in less than two months and I am spending this summer trying to get as organized as possible. In addition to the million-and-one things that are required of teachers, I know that I want to have my students blogging as well as have a classroom website.      I have two science classes, Grade 7 & Grade 8, who I want to start blogging projects with. These are two of my smaller classes as I am nervous that I will get too overwhelmed if I tried to get ALL 7 of my different subject-area… Read More

300 Follower Giveaway!!

The last three months have included a lot of personal milestones for me including: – Obtaining my 1st teaching job – Graduating with my Bachelor of Education Degree – Being appointed to the ManACE Board – Getting married      I realize that, at times, this has meant that my blogging frequency has dropped and/or been a bit sporadic. I promise that this is not permanent, however, and will be back into a regular routine again starting TODAY! In fact, the past few weeks specifically have also marked some exciting blogging milestones as well! I am so happy… Read More

My Thoughts On Feedly

I only started using Google Reader in January of 2012; I was in my first year in the Faculty of Education when I was introduced to it in one of our program’s ICT courses. At first, I hadn’t really recognized the value of the service as I really only used my computer for social media, email, and school research (no seriously, that’s ALL I used it for!). After beginning my blogging adventure, however, I was quickly addicted to the site as it was so easy to organize and keep track of the 200+ sites I began following on… Read More

Resources To Start Off Your Week 69: Canada Day Edition!

I realize that it is no longer the start of the week nor Canada Day… but I was distracted with the post-wedding craziness and didn’t quite get back to blogging as fast as I had originally planned. For all of my fellow Canucks out there, Happy (belated) Canada Day! For all of my followers from outside of Canada, hopefully you find these resources interesting, helpful, and fun πŸ™‚ As always, I will be adding these to my lists of resources under the Fav Websites heading at the top of the page. Some Canadian pride! (I’m front row, on… Read More

This was the longest break in blogging I have taken… Read More

Summer #EdTech To-Do List

I recently read a post by Anthony VonBank over at his blog, Clouducation, in which he shared some of his #EdTech suggestions for summer. Since I am an #EdTech lover, my Twitter-Tried-It Challenge is still going on, and I’m now on the ManACE Board, I thought it was a perfect fit for me to create my own #EdTech To-Do List too! (Big thanks to Anthony for the inspiration!) Technology is a given. (2013). Uploaded by Scott McLeod to Flickr. Twitter-Tried-It Challenge Update 2!

The Twitter-Tried-It Challenge, that I introduced on June 6th, has been in place for a little over two weeks now and I’ve been trying so many awesome idea… have you?      In my first Twitter-Tried-In Update I featured Ms Duemm who was the FIRST participant in the challenge.  Since then, she has shared her experience on her blog as well. I definitely recommend that you head over there and check it out because it seems like a really neat project πŸ™‚      I’ve also had Ms Banks, an elementary school Vice-Principal from Manitoba, join up with multiple implementations!
