On Fridays, I share what I believe to be a notable person/organization/school on our social media pages to assist our staff in the development of their online Personal Learning Network.

Earlier this month I shared about February’s upcoming BYTE Conference but one thing that I failed to mention was the fantastic keynote: Matt Miller! Matt has been a part of my PLN for many years via social media , I have used their books as part my personal and divisional book studies, and closely followed their recent work on AI. Next month will be my first opportunity seeing Matt present in-person and I am quite excited! At the BYTE Conference, Matt will be delivering the keynote but also facilitating multiple breakout sessions through the day. Their keynote is described as:

The Attention Switch, with Matt Miller
With advertising, social media, and constant notifications, it’s harder than ever to maintain attention — especially in the classroom. How can we keep student attention, and engage them in meaningful learning? It’s all about the Attention Switch in our students’ brains. In this session, you’ll learn what keeps students connected, and you’ll feel inspired to create learning that students will love. This speech features unexpected twists and lots of fun, looking at now-defunct social media platforms, Pinterest fails, YouTube trends, and more. You’ll walk away with some practical, concrete steps and ideas for engaging students as well as big-picture ideas that can shape your instruction.

Matt’s breakout sessions will speak to making learning memorable with tech, academic integrity in the age of AI, and tech options for teacher efficiency.

I highly recommend you register for the BYTE Conference and follow Matt on the platform(s) of your choice!
