#TechTipTuesday – TeachFlix
Every Tuesday I share a Tech Tip on our social media pages to assist our staff in their use of technology as it relates to their role.
If you are wanting to include videos into your classroom programming but don’t know where to start, I recommend TeachFlix! Organized by Matt Miller and the Ditch That Textbook team, TeachFlix describes itself as:
“Ever find a video for your students that’s just right? Perfect even? You show it to them (or they watch it on their own). It engages them. Makes them think. Starts really great conversations.
A video can be the right tool to kickstart great learning.
That’s why we created TEACHFLIX. It’s a collection of videos – sorted into categories – that you can use with your students in class. We’ve found our own favorites – and curated suggestions from classroom teachers. It’s not a perfect, all-encompassing collection. But we like it. And we keep adding new videos to it!“

TeachFlix is an accessible way to search for video content for your classroom using a database that you know has already been vetted by teachers. Another interesting aspect is that many of the videos include links to supplementary resources such as video response sheets and brainstorming templates.
As always, I recommend that you watch any video in its entirety before you show it to your students to determine suitability for your unique audience.
