Are Schools Changing?
On Mondays I share a different ed tech quote on our Thompson Classroom social media pages for our staff to consider.
The first quarter of the 22/23 school year is coming to a close with many schools focusing this week on the distribution of report cards and parent-teacher interviews. Not only is this a time to ensure that students and families understand where one’s current understanding is as it relates to curricular content but it should also be a time for school teams to reflect on their practice. Speaking from a tech perspective this could include things like:
- how are we sharing information with our stakeholders?
- can we utilize tech tools like social media, LMS, SIS, etc to increase the amount of people we can reach?
- what are our tech goals for students?
- how are we addressing the LwICT continuum through our building?
- how are we assisting our students in the development of their digital footprint?
- what is our stance on:
- student access to wifi
- BYOD
- student content filter
- what is our current access to technology/devices in our building?
- how are they distributed between classes?
- is our current system allowing for students and teachers to access them in a equitable manner?
- what do we need to add to our building for students and teachers to meet their goals?
- what non-curricular tech elements are available within the building?
- eSports team
- video announcements
- social media maintenance
- maker space
What would you add to this list?
