WOW Wednesday – MVSD Secretarial Team

     On Wednesdays I highlight some of our amazing MVSD staff on our social media pages. Everyday our staff are using tech in new and exciting ways, are learning new skills, and are sharing ways in which ed tech is assisting them in their practice.

Earlier in August our divisional secretarial team from across all 16 MVSD buildings came together at Division Office to participate in a full day of tech training. This was our first time meeting as a group since early March of 2020 and it was so fantastic to have everyone back to together again.

This day was a truly collaborative endevour with presentations from our HR, Indigenous Education, Data Systems, Communications, and ICT departments. The topics covered many of our primary divisional digital platforms to help ensure that our front-office teams were prepared for the upcoming school year because, as we all know, it is our building secretaries that hold our schools together! The team specifically looked at:

  • How to merge it with staff calendars
  • Embedding on school websites
  • Integration into digital newsletters
• PowerSchool
  • Updates in the 2022/23 school year
  • Student registrations and contact sheets
  • Divisional information input timelines
  • Progress update from MB Ed regarding pursuit of a vendor for a provincial SIS
• OneDrive
  • Cloud-based storage and its role in MVSD
  • OneDrive features available online, off-line and via mobile aoos
  • How to navigate OneDrive including file creation and sharing
• Scholantis
  • Updates in the 2022/23 school year
  • Revamping your webpage for the new year
  • Embedded content
  • Contact syncing for push-outs of important bulletins

As you can see, this day was PACKED this information and our secretarial team was up to the challenge. As we celebrate our first day back to school here in MVSD we are so thankful for everything this group does to keep our schools running smoothly.
