Follow Friday – Eric Sheninger
On Fridays I share what I believe to be a notable person/organization/school on our social media pages to assist our staff in the development of their online Personal Learning Network.
Eric is someone who has been a part of my PLN for the last decade. In fact, the first time he’s mentioned here on my blog was August of 2012 as part of Connected Educator Month. The official bio from his website summarizes,
“His work focuses on leading and learning in the digital age as a model for moving schools and districts forward. This has led to the formation of the Pillars of Digital Leadership, a framework for all educators to initiate sustainable change to transform school cultures. As a result, Eric has emerged as an innovative leader, best-selling author, and sought-after speaker. His main focus is using research and evidence-based practices to empower learners, improve communications with stakeholders, enhance public relations, create a positive brand presence, discover opportunities, transform learning spaces, and help educators grow professionally in the digital age.“

Over the years I have followed Eric’s transition from principal, to author, to consultant and have utilized his work in my research at both the M.Ed and Ph.D level. His books, Digital Leadership: Changing Paradigms for Changing Times and Communicating & Connecting with Social Media, are also part of my personal library and can be loaned out to MVSD staff. To get a sense of Eric’s perspective on education, I encourage you to watch his Keynote from the 2019 INTED:
