#TechTipTuesday – O365 Bookings

Every Tuesday I share a Tech Tip on our social media pages to assist our staff in their use of technology as it relates to their role.

Did you know that O365 bookings allows community members to book appointments with staff members and quickly send contact preferences in a way that auto-populated in staff calendars with Teams Meetings links? Perfect for parent teacher interviews.

As we approach the season for parent-teacher interviews I like to remind Microsoft users about the O365 Bookings tool. The use of Office 365 Bookings has streamlined our Parent-Teacher Interview Process in multiple ways:

  • our secretarial, admin, and teaching staff are no longer required to manage incoming appointment times
  • our teachers know automatically when their bookings are as they sync to their Outlook calendars
  • Teams video meeting links are autogenerated for every family who requires this method
  • families receive notification reminders of their appointment times

Bookings is an Office 365 tool for those with an A5 license. In MVSD this is available to our building administrators who set this up on behalf of their school (staff do not need this license to be added in as an option). Setting this up with our admin team was a breeze thanks to Mike Tholfsen at Microsoft who put together this tutorial that clearly outlines every step!

To see how we have used Bookings in our buildings, check out these two previously shared videos showcasing a school example as well as a community example used during remote learning:
