#TechTipTuesday – Ed Tech in MVSD
Every Tuesday I share a Tech Tip on our social media pages to assist our staff in their use of technology as it relates to their role.
When I moved into this position I noticed that there were reoccurring concerns from administrators and teachers from many of our schools: families were unfamiliar with a variety of technology-related aspects of their children’s’ lives. This may include how to utilize school-related tech tools, how to help their child navigate social media, how to guide their child’s use of screen time, etc. With the shift to remote learning in the spring of 2020, this concern was amplified as teachers, principals, and support staff found themselves serving as tech support on top of their regular role.
As such, the community outreach program that was started in the fall of 2019 has continued to evolve. In the absence of face-to-face displays and training sessions, our efforts have been focused on online content development shared via YouTube. The MVSD Ed Tech series of videos is designed to provide transparency on the role ed tech plays within our division and help ensure families feel informed, confident, and prepared to use technology with the children in their lives.
Not only can this series support families, but it can support school staff who now have a place to direct families who need information about one of these topics. New videos will continue to be added through the first two weeks of May in response to requests from our community stakeholders.
