Supporting Ed Tech – Check Your Mail!

Supporting Ed Tech – Check Your Mail!

Today felt somewhat like Christmas at my office as I was busy packaging up different ed tech resources to be sent out to schools via our divisional mail system. I am always on the look out for different ways to build in ed tech PD and tech integration and for the past few weeks I have been working with our Coordinator of Library Services and Coordinator of Educational Services on two projects:

School-Based Book Study

Each of our schools has been gifted a book that discusses a specific aspect of ed tech. These books were chosen based on:

  • school goals
  • teacher goals
  • past PD experience
  • staff personality

I wanted to provide options for buildings to continue their existing ed tech work while offering flexibility and on-going support. As such, each book was accompanied by a companion document that offered:

  • reasoning on why the book was selected
  • ways that it could be used with staff
  • supporting resources

Each book was also given a dedicated page in our MVSD ICT Resources notebook (linked in the blog tabs) which features curated online resources to expand learning.

Tablet Stylus for K-1 Students

All K-1 teachers in our division received a package with the following infographic and a tablet stylus for use with their students. The included video features my own daughter who is demoing this concept at age 2.

Does your child have access to a tablet? Consider purchasing a stylus for them #learnwithme #edtech #mvsd_mb #techtips #positivevibes #fyp
