#WOWWednesday – Maintenance Department

Every Wednesday I highlight some of our amazing MVSD staff on our social media pages. Everyday our staff are using tech in new and exciting ways, are learning new skills, and are sharing ways in which ed tech is assisting them in their practice.

This week I want to provide a shoutout to members of our team who help provide the supports so that our tech is accessible to the broader community. Beginning in April, as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic and suspension of classes, MVSD began offering free wifi via hotspots in all 7 of our MVSD communities:

  • Roblin
  • Grandview
  • Ethelbert
  • Gilbert Plains
  • Winnipegosis
  • Dauphin
  • Ochre River

Fortunately, we currently have the luxery of having the majority of our students learning face-to-face with teachers in our buildings but we have chosen to continue offering our wifi in all previous locations. This helps to ensure that any students who cannot be in the building, or families who require online support, have the access they require. To help advertise this program and showcase the specific locations of the wifi signal our maintenance department has been hard at work creating all-weather signs that will be displayed at our 7 wifi hotspots. This team has gone above and beyond with individually framing and painting signs for a consistent, durable sign for all locations; thank you!
