Myla Krauskopf, Winnipegosis Collegiate, creating collaborative videos for remote learners

Every Wednesday I highlight some of our amazing MVSD staff on our social media pages. Everyday our staff are using tech in new and exciting ways, are learning new skills, and are sharing ways in which ed tech is assisting them in their practice.

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions my visits to schools are more limited compared to last year. While I was previously able to visit schools on my own schedule, with a goal of visiting each one every month, my visits now require a lot more planning. I would previously have lots of time to visit classes, work in common spaces, and see lots of great things to highlight. However, my visits now are very scheduled, usually only involve staff members, and prevent me from visiting multiple buildings in particular time frames. As such, I’ve increased my communication efforts with building leaders so that they can share some of the WOW-moments from their buildings.

With that in mind, this WOW Wednesday doesn’t just go out to the staff it highlights, but also to the staff who shared this with me. This week Jen Frykas of Winnipegosis Collegiate highlighted her staff member, Myla Krauskopf. Myla has been working collaboratively with students to create video content for students who are unable to attend face-to-face. I love that this is being approached as a community task; I imagine it is very special for that student to be able to have this interaction with their peers while accessing programming. Plus, the ICT skills it addresses is great; well done everyone!
