#TechTipTuesday – Use of BCC

Every Tuesday I share a Tech Tip on our social media pages to assist our staff in their use of technology as it relates to their role.

We have all been sending an increasing amount of email now that we are reporting from home due to Covid-19.  In MVSD we had seen an increase of 49.6% in sent/read emails since the suspension of classes was announced on March 13th.

As many of our staff now find themselves in a position where they are emailing their parent groups regularly I would like to remind you that parent emails are often not public information.  However, by placing a list of email addresses in the “To” or “CC” line, that information is visable to everyone that message is sent to.  Additionally, if a recipient were to accidently select “Reply All” (which happens regularly) there is a chance that sensitive information is now forwarded to the entire recipient list.

The use of BCC can help eliminate both of these concerns!  If you are interested in reviewing email etiquette I invite you to read the following by LinkedIn writer Danielle Waltz.
