Laptop Loan Program – EXPANDED to Junior High
Earlier this month I was able to share one of the new offerings our ICT Team was undertaking in an effort to help increase student learning success: the loaning of our divisional laptops to our High School (Gr 9-12) students. This was a big task for us as we did not have any device lending pre-Covid and are also not 1-to-1 so our available inventory is limited. As such, this has been a multi-phase approach that will allow us to help serve those who need the support most.
We had a very positive response to this program especially once we could couple it with our FREE wifi access along the exterior of our school buildings in all 7 MVSD communities. This week we are thrilled to be able to offer the laptop loan program to our Gr. 5/6-8 students who have internet access at home and are in need of a device to engage in online learning. Families are encourage to contact their school before May 28th to make arrangements for pickup.

While we wish that we were able to offer these services earlier into the suspension of classes we are very proud that we are able to get them up and running; especially as many students are entering final assessments for the 2019/2020 school year. It is our hope that in the event we continue to have online or a hybrid model in the fall that these programs will already be established to help ensure a smooth start to the 2020/2021 school year.
