PD on the Potty
After listening to a podcast episode with Kasey Bell, Shake Up Learning, I decided to try a new way of communicating tech tips with my staff: Potty PD! Now this idea is not new, its been floating around the Twittersphere for a while but we all know: don’t reinvent the wheel.
While emails, social media posts, newsletters, etc are all well and good (and I do those things as well), there is something to be said for having a captive audience. Enter Potty PD! The simple placement of a flier featuring quick tips in the staff facilities and you know your message has a dedicated audience.

After a quick Google search I was inspired by the following template by EdTechPicks. Since I have 16 schools on my caseload I send out the fliers in our divisional mail and the school secretary places them in the facilities for me. I don’t have a set schedule but they get replaced about every 3-4 weeks. The information is designed to be “short and sweet” but is all topics that are discussed in full depth in our MVSD ICT Resources Notebook that I have created for our staff so that if they are interested they can visit this resource for full information.
